Students’ Union

The Students’ Union of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College is an elected body of student representatives to help administration in organizing and conducting the activities of the college by providing them a wide range of opportunities for sustainable growth and development. The union helps to identify, discover and channelize the innate potentialities of the students and provide them platform for exhibiting their talents and teaches the students to keep up the traditional, moral and spiritual values and imbibe them in their day to day life.

The Principal is the president of the Union. Four members of the faculty serve as Union Vice Presidents. The Students’ Union also consists of student representatives who serve in the capacity of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Council coordinators and members. The union representatives are elected from both aided and self-financed sections thereby ensuring an equal representation.

Activities of Students’ Union

• Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College observed Anti – Untouchability Day on 30.01.2024. Dr.M.Vasuki, Principal administered the pledge, Members of the faculty, non-teaching staff and the students took part in pledge
• The Martyrs' Day was observed on 30.01.2024, in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi's contribution to India and his sacrifices during the freedom struggle. The teaching staff, non-teaching staff and the students of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College paid tribute to all the freedom fighters by observing silence for two minutes
• 75^th Republic Day was celebrated on 26.01.2024 in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. Ms. R.Vibraja of XII ‘G’, Savitri Vidyasala Hindu Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Tiruchirappalli hoisted the national flag and delivered the Republic Day message. Ms.K.S.Dhanusri of III B.A Economics, Students’ Union Secretary, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchirappalli delivered a speech on Indian Democracy
• National Voter’s Day was celebrated on 25th January of every year. “Voter’s day pledge” was administered by the Principal, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchirapalli on 24.01.2024 at 11.30 a.m. Ms. T. Dhanalakshmi of III B.Com(SF), Students’ Union Joint Secretary, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College delivered a speech on Rights of Indian Citizens
• National Girl Child Day was celebrated in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. On 24.01.2024, Ms.S.Karthika Jothi of II B.Sc Physics gave a talk on the topic “Achievements of Women”
• Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti was celebrated on 23.01.2024. Ms.V.Aarthi of III B.B.A delivered an inspirational talk on the great leader who is known for his role in Indian freedom
• For the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on 22.01.2024, the common bhajan about the omnipresence of Ram was organized by Padmabhushan Sri N. Ramaswami Ayyar Educational Complex. The students of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Kamakoti Vidyalaya and Savitri Vidyasala Hindu Girls Higher Secondary School participated in the bhajan. Dr.Usha, Department of Sanskrit, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, delivered speech on the divinity of lord Ram to all the students and filled the premises with deity by her ambrosial speech
• On 20.01.2024, National Army Day was observed in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. Ms. S.Ilanthiraiya of III B.Sc Botany enlightened the student audience with her patriotic speech
• National Youth Day was observed on 18.01.2024. Ms. J.M.Vishalini of III B.A English gave a motivating speech
• On 12.01.2024, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College joyously celebrated the pongal festival
• About 140 Twelfth Standard students from Government Schools of Musiri, Thottiyam, Thathiyengar pettai were visited the Arts and Science departments of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami college on 03.01.2024
• The Faculty Orientation Programme was conducted by the International Quality Assurance Cell and Department of Physics, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College on 03.01.2024. Dr.A.Dhanalakshmi, Former Head, Research Department of physics, and Former Dean of Sciences, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College and Former CSI Advisor, Trichy Chapter, USA was the chief guest
• On 26.12.2023, National Consumer Day was observed in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. Ms.E.Kiruthika of III B.A Economics delivered an inspirational speech
• The National Mathematics Day was observed on 22.12. 2023. It was celebrated on his birth anniversary in order to honour the famous Mathematician Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan. Ms. S. Janani of I B.Sc Maths spoke on the contribution of Srinivasa Ramanujar to Mathematics
• Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College released its annual in-house research journal, SRC – QUEST (Volume 3) on 22.12.2023. Dr. K. Ravichandran, Associate Professor and Head, PG and Research Department of Physics, AVVM Sri Pushpam College, Poondi, Thanjavur released the research journal SRC – QUEST (Volume 3)
• Vijay Diwas was celebrated on 15.12.2023 in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. The Ms.Amruthaharini of III B.A Economics delivered a thought-provoking speech
• On 11.12.2023 World Human Right’s Day was observed. Ms. K. Swathi of I M.A History spoke on the significance of the day and highlighted the importance of human rights

• Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College observes Human Right’s Day on 08.12.2023. Dr.M.Vasuki, Principal administrated the pledge to the Faculty members and the Office staffs
• Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College hosted a short-term professional placement training program for final-year undergraduate students from 04.12.2023 to 08.12.2023. The program's goal was to help students improve and hone their employability skills
• A outreach programme was presented by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Trichy Kendra with Infosys Foundation, Bengaluru at the college premises. The programme was hosted by UE Sindhuja, harikatha performer on 27.11.2023
• The 127^th birthday celebration of Shri N. Ramaswami Ayyar, the founder of Padmabhushan Sri N. Ramaswami Ayyar Educational Complex was celebrated on 30.10.2023. Honourable Minister Shri. K. N. Nehru, Minister for Municipal Administration, Urban and Water Supply of Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest. The Managing Trustee of the educational complex, Shri. R. Panchapakesan graced the occasion with his vibrant presence. Shri. Anbazhagan, Mayor, Tiruchirappalli City Corporation, Shri. M. Pradeep Kumar, I.A.S., District Collector, Tiruchirappalli District, Shri. R. Vaithinathan I.A.S, Commissioner, Tiruchirappalli City Corporation were the special guests of that day
• Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru M.K.Stalin honouring Scientist Veeramuthuvel, an Indian aerospace engineer for being a part in the successful launch of Chandhrayan III was live streamed to the students on 23.10.2023
• Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Birthday was celebrated on 16.10.2023 in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. An inspirational speech was given by Ms.K.Anusuya of III B.A English
• Academic Council meet for the year 2023 – 2024 was conducted on 11.10.2023
• The college celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi on 3.10.2023. Ms.G.Prathiyanka of II B.Com commemorated Mahatma Gandhi and elaborated the thoughts and principles of Mahatma Gandhiji
• Kamarajar’s Death anniversary was observed on 3.10.2023. Ms.C.Sri Lakshmi of II B.B.A enlightened the student audience with her eloquent speech
• On 23.09.2023 the college organizes a Cancer Awareness Programme on Faculty Welfare in collaboration with GVN Cancer Institute. Dr.L.Sofia Rajesh, GVN Cancer Institute, Trichy was the chief guest
• Shri. Dushyanth Sridhar, one of the most sought-after public speakers in Sanatana Dharma, Vedic speaker & writer, delivered a discourse on the topic “Life lessons of Hanuman” on 22.09.2023
• On 16.09.2023 International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer was celebrated in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College Ms.N.S.Anushapriyadharshini of II M.Sc.,Physics, delivered a thoughtful speech. “Vehicle Free Day” was also observed on that day
• Self -Respect Movement was observed in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College on 15.09.2023. Dr.M. Vasuki, Principal, administrated the pledge to the faculty members and the non-teaching staffs, an oath about Self Respect, which insists to treat ourselves with respect and dignity

• National Sports Day was celebrated on 29.08.2023 in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. A thoughtful speech was given by G.M.Pradeepalakshmi of II M.Sc Chemistry
• On 25.08.2023 Women Equality Day was observed in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. R. Sathya of I B.Sc Zoology delivered an inspirational speech
• Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College commemorated the death anniversary of its beloved Madam Co-Ordinator Smt.Vasantha Panchapakesan on 22.08.2023. In order to honour her love and affection towards all, a commemorative journal was released. Sri.R.Panchapakesan distributed “ Madam Co-Ordinator’s Student Welfare Scholarship” to the college students and the students of Kamakoti Vidyalaya and Savitri Vidyasala Hindu Girls Higher Secondary School
• Udgam – 2023 - Cultural Fest was celebrated on 18.08.2023 and 19.08.2023. Students Participated & won prizes in various events. Winner up shield bagged by the PG and Research Department of Chemistry
• 77^th Independence Day was celebrated on 15.08.2023. Ms. G. M. • International youth day was celebrated on 12.08.2023. S.Ilanthiraiya of III B,Sc Botany spoke on the topic "Viksit Yuva-Viksit Bharat”
• Mass Anti –Drug Awareness campaign was observed in the premises of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College on 11.08.2023. An Anti-Drug Awareness pledge was administered by the Principal on that day at 11.00 a.m
• On 09.08.2023, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College organized the Annual Sports Meet. Mr.M.Harikumar,I.R.T.S., Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Honourable Secretary, Southern Railway Sports Association, Tiruchirappalli Division was the Chief guest. Olympian Miss.S.Dhanalakshmi., Sports Officer, Tamilnadu Electricity Board, Tiruchirappalli, an Illustrious Alumna of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College was the Guest of Honour. The Overall winner shield was bagged by Department of Physics from Aided Section and Department of Commerce from Self Financed Section
• “August Kranti Din”-Quit India Movement Day was observed on 08.08.2023. S.Ragavi of II M.A History delivered an inspirational speech
• Dr. A. P.J. Abdul Kalam Death Anniversary was commemorated on 27.07.2023. Ms. A. Abinaya from II B.A Tamil spoke the inspirable speech on “Missile Man of India”
• World Nature Conservation Day was observed on 28.07.2023 at Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. Ms. Abinaya from II B.Sc Maths gave a speech on significant importance in the lives of every human being
• Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed on 26.07.2023 at Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. Cadet R.Samyuktha from III B.A English spoke on the significance of Kargil victory and the sacrifice made by Kargil heros
• On 21.07.2023, The Management, Principal, Faculty of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College celebrates its Inaugural Function of the Student’s Union & its Affiliated Associations and Fresher’s Day. Dr. A. • On 19.07.2023 Padmabhushan Sri.N. Ramaswami Ayyar Educational Complex, Tiruchirappalli released the commemorative journal of Madam Coordinator Smt. Vasantha Panchapakesan. Mr. A. Krishnamoorthy, Chairman, Amalgamations Group and Smt. Bhavani Krishnamoorthy were the chief guest and guest of honour. The programme was also streamed live
• Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College celebrates Karmaveerar Kamarajar’s Birthday on 14.07.2023. Ms.P.Kiruthika of III B.A Tamil gave a talk on the significant role of kamarajar in both freedom struggles and politics
• On 12.07.2023, the college conducts the programme for all third year students of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College to enhance their knowledge about the TNPSC Group exams
• World population day was observed on 11.07.2023 at Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. Ms.S.Janani Iyswarya, III B.A English gave a speech on the population explosion
• Awareness on using Handloom cloths was recognized on 07.07.2023. Dr. K. Pushpavalli, Associate Professor Department of Tamil, delivered an interesting lecture on handlooms
• International Plastic-Bag Free day was observed at Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College on 03.07.2023. Akshaya.G from III B. Sc Chemistry delivered a speech on hazards of using Plastic bags
• “Maram Nadudhal Matrum Paathukathal” Event was held at Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College on 25th June. The event was conducted by “Melmaruvathur Aadhiparashakthi Aanmiga Trust” from Thiruvanaikovil Sakthi Pedam. It was considered as their trial for Guinness World Record
