Department Of Sanskrit (Part - I)

Profile

Sanskrit, the compendium of Bharatiya culture, knowledge traditions and values is supported and promoted right from the establishment of the institution till date. Apart from part-I Sanskrit, the department also offers a B.Voc. (Bachelor of Vocational) Programme on “Beauty and Wellness Alternate Therapy Yoga”, under Skill based Education through National Skill Qualification Framework.


Goals
  • To promote the study of Sanskrit language
  • To stress the importance of Sanskrit for a proper understanding of   Indian cultural heritage, knowledge traditions and value system
  • To emphasise the unifying role of Sanskrit in the  context of National Integration
Objectives
  • To develop curriculum that brings out the richness of Sanskrit literature and its contribution to various fields of knowledge
  • To include functional aspect of Sanskrit in curriculum
  • To impart ethics, human values and social values by introducing the relevant literature
  • To train students in conversational Sanskrit to develop their communicative skills

  • Internship projects have been sanctioned by Indian Knowledge Systems, IKS division, Ministry of Education with AICTE. IKS internships promote interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research on all aspects of Indian Knowledge Systems. The duration of the internship is two months with a stipend of Rs.10,000/- per month and Rs.5000/- for travel and other miscellaneous expenses with a maximum of Rs.25,000/- for two months as per existingAICTE norms. Twelve students from different departments have been sanctioned these internships. Dr. S. Usha, Associate Professor of Sanskrit got approval as a recognised mentor for the IKS internship project
