Profile

B.A. Music was started in the year 1966 under the aided section. Since its inception,the students have secured I rank consecutively. Being the favourite subject of our founder, M.A. Music was also started in 1987 under self - financed section. Students of the department have participated in the All India level Virundaganam competition conducted by All India Radio and secured I and II prizes in classical and folk music for 31years. The Alumnae of the department are now working as Programme Executive in All India Radio, Comperers in media, officers in Railways under cultural quota, Dean in a university, Professors in colleges, Music teachers in schools, performing artists both Carnatic and light music and running own music schools. The department produces M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars.

To inculcate and develop an aesthetic sense of music and to explore the portals of Indian music, both Vocal and instrumental

To provide the opportunities for learning devotional songs in Sanskrit, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Tamil
To develop performing skills
